Academic and research background

Prof Quaranta holds a PhD in Odontostomatologic Diseases from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and is a Clinical Professor in the Discipline of Periodontics at the University of Sydney School of Dentistry. In 2019 he was awarded the National Scientific Qualification (ASN) by Italy’s Ministry of Education, University and Research, the qualification required there for a Full Professorship.

From 2018 to 2020 he held the Professorship of Periodontics at Griffith University’s School of Dentistry and Oral Health, where he also directed the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry program. He has previously been a Visiting Professor at the School of Dental Medicine, State University of New York at Buffalo.

He is a reviewer for the Australian Dental Research Foundation and sits on the University of Sydney Oral Health CPD Advisory Committee and the Human Research Ethics Committee of the Sydney Local Health District at RPA.

Teaching and invited lecturing

He is invited to lecture on periodontics and implant dentistry by universities, scientific societies and dental study clubs, in Australia and overseas, and teaches on the surgical set-up and instrumentation he uses in practice.
