Professor Alessandro Quaranta, known as Prof Q, has practised, taught and published in dentistry and healthcare management across a specialist career spanning 20 years, since completing his specialist training at the University of Rome, “La Sapienza”. That institution is ranked as Italy’s top university* and is the largest in Europe.
In 2019, Prof Q was awarded the National Scientific Qualification (ASN) from the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR), the highest academic qualification in Italy, which qualifies him for a Full Professorship. From 2018 to 2020 he was Professor of Periodontics at Griffith University’s School of Dentistry and Oral Health in Queensland, where he also directed the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry program, becoming Australia’s youngest professor at Academic Level E at the time.
Academic career
An Italian native, Prof Q is now an Australian AHPRA-registered Specialist Periodontist, Clinical Professor in the Discipline of Periodontics at the University of Sydney School of Dentistry, and Chief Clinical Consultant and Director at Smile Specialists Suite and Kiama Dental Specialists.

True to his Italian origins, he enjoys cooking Italian dishes, tasting good wines and exploring other cuisines.
